The Royal Western Nova Scotia Yacht Club was founded in 1898 as the Digby Yacht Club. In 1913 it became the Western Nova Scotia Yacht Club and was granted the Royal Charter in 1969, and has been known as the Royal Western Nova Scotia Yacht Club since that time.
The Club organizes many social events throughout the Summer and has races on Wednesdays and Sundays from June until September. On July 2nd 2004, The Royal Western Nova Scotia and Points East Magazine will be hosting the fourth Admiral Digby Cup Race. This race will start from Bass Harbor, Maine and finish at the entrance to Annapolis Basin at Digby Gut, Nova Scotia, a distance of 120 miles. The race will be recognized by GMORA and count for points. Interested parties may contact Points East Magazine or The R.W.N.S.Y.C.
